Identifying themes and research clusters using language transformers and topic recommendation

Topic clusters produced by transformer-based topic modelling

An ongoing programme extending bibliometric analysis with transformer-based language models. Instead of stopping at citation counts and co-word maps, we embed the full text of abstracts, cluster them with BERTopic, and use the resulting structure to recommend under-explored topics to researchers. Applied so far to green finance, luxury fashion marketing, neuromarketing and Global South higher education — see Research.

Multi-scaling properties and connectedness of sovereign bond yields

Network of sovereign bond yield connectedness

Using daily yields of 14 sovereign bond markets across emerging and developed economies from July 2000 to July 2022, we examine scaling properties with the generalised Hurst exponent and spectral density analysis, and connectedness with regularised partial-correlation networks. Both 2-year and 10-year tenors are studied, which also lets us examine spreads against the USA. Yields in both cohorts are anti-persistent (the USA excepted), with developed-economy yields less so than emerging ones, and the networks show community formation that offers diversification benefits — with emerging markets concentrating into one community, most visibly at the short tenor.
